Our annual September Direct came and went, and while there was some quality stuff shown, it will likely be remembered as fairly underwhelming. The gang get together to discuss the not-unexpected-but-still-disappointing absence of Metroid Prime's Echoes and Corruption and what the calibre of games shown could mean for the Switch 2's reveal. We also get into the Direct itself and talk about the numerous Mario titles and why there are so many, the best way to make a new F-Zero game and what it should be about, Mario Kart's lacklustre Booster Pass and what we would do instead, the greatness of The Thousand Year Door, and so much more!

Rumors have been flying around lately about the successor to the Nintendo Switch, with Nintendo apparently showing off the "Switch 2" at Gamescom this year, so this week, Andy and Doom break down the technical specs that the Switch 2 is rumored to have, spitball their theories on when Nintendo will reveal their console (spoiler: Andy thinks it's sooner than you think!), when Metroid Prime 4 will launch on the new system and whether we even get a Switch version still, if there's a chance Metroid Prime 2 and 3 launch on the Switch before the new console, and so much more!
All this, PLUS some predictions for what we might see in the September Direct, we revisit older Nintendo consoles last year release schedules, and debate if the time for Mother 3 to hit NA is finally upon us. Come hang with us!

We're back to finish off the journey we started last week with Volume 1 of the Metroid Manga! Volume 2 picks up right where the last one left off and makes some...interesting decisions. Hear our thoughts on things like Adam's characterization towards Samus, if that ending was enough to undo the whole story thus far, Samus suffering from PTSD (and how that same scene later resurfaced in Other M), the fights against Ridley and the rest of the Space Pirates, how much DNA funny business is too much, and Grey Voice the Chozo's character arc!

Welcome to a brand new sub-series from Omega! Today's episode is the first instalkment of Metroid Manga In Review, a series where we will be reading and reviewing the various Metroid manga that have been made over the years. Kicking us off is Metroid: Volume 1, the origin story of one Samus Aran!

After a brief detour, it's finally time to rewrite the story of Metroid Dread!
This week on the show, the OMP crew return to the drawing board for Metroid Dread and its story. While they are big fans of the game, Dak and Doom have had some opinions on how the game's story unfolds. So on this episode, they've both taken on the task of REWRITING the game's story! Dak and Doom will both go through their new Metroid Dread story pitches, presenting two wildly different ideas. How do they stack up to one another? And what do you think about these rewrites? After a long layover, Inspired By Metroid returns to examine the critically acclaimed Dead Cells, a game by Motion Twin. Dead Cells is a mashup, mixing classic Roguelike gameplay with Metroidvania exploration and platforming, so it feels familiar yet different! Joining Andy this week is Zach Guillot of the Collateral Gaming Video Game Podcast, as they discuss their thoughts on Roguelikes in general, what Metroid fans would like about this game, the different levels and areas, if the two genres of games mix well, the incredible depth of weapons and customization, and if the lack of story is made up for by the killer gameplay.

We are back once again to thorough analyze a Metroid area in our ongoing Mapping Metroid series, and this week, we return to Metroid Dread to talk the fallen Chozo city of Ferenia! We talk about our favorite rooms in the area, what sets Ferenia apart from other Dread locales, if the story told in that cutscene was effective or a stinker, argue about the music found within, discuss Escue and the Core-X, and describe some of our favorite Shinespark puzzles found within!

This week, Andy returns and joins the fellas as they embark on a marathon topic: picking a favorite song from each game in the Metroid series (plus AM2R and Smash Bros. for good measure!). We have a lot of fun discussing our favorite tracks, trying to describe why we like them, which soundtracks we think are the best and which ones leave something to be desired, and realizing that, of all games, Metroid Prime Federation Force has *by far* the biggest OST in the entire series!

With rumors of a Metroid Prime 2 remaster back in the mix, the squad decided to discuss the rumors and their thoughts now that the first Metroid Prime Remastered has been released. Plus, we do a retrospective on the original Metroid Prime 2 - our favorite memories of the game, how it stacks up to the original Prime, and the game's legacy looking back at it almost twenty years later. And we jump into a few changes we'd like to see made, or not made at all, for the Remastered version if it comes out.
