We look back and reminisce on arguably the best time to be a Metroid fan. With so many great Metroid games released in such a short period of time, it's hard not to have fond feelings of that era. After a long hiatus, Inspired By Metroid returns, and in a somewhat serendipitous turn of events, we examine a game modeled after the great 3D Metroids that' from the series that helped inspire Metroid! That's right, its finally time to talk Alien! Andy is joined by Zelda Dungeon and Boss Rush Network's David Lasby - himself a lifelong Alien fan - to talk about the terrifying atmosphere of Isolation, the incredible AI powering the Xenomorph, the fearsome Worker Joe's, the amazing aesthetic, the gameplay, the map, the length, and so much more!
How close in concept will the E.M.M.I's of Metroid Dread function to the Alien? What would a Fusion remake with a Xeno-like SA-X stalking you be like? We've brought over a fan favorite game from the Zelda podcast and sister show, The Champions' Cast, to play this week, but of course, with a Metroid twist! Introducing Guess That Metroid Character in 16 Questions, the game where you get 16 yes or no questions in an effort to nail down which character (NPC's, bosses, and anyone with a name was eligible) your opponent has picked! Andy and Doom go head to head, trying to stump one another with their picks. Can you guess that Metroid character before we do? Come play along!

The boys are back with the latest entry in the Definitive Ranking series, going all the way back to 1991 to talk about Metroid II: Return of Samus? How does the original Game Boy classic hold up? Should Metroid fans bother with this title or just head straight to the remakes? And might this be the best example of a game making chicken salad out of chicken you-know-what? Come find out with us!
Just as a refresher, the categories we're ranking each game in are:
- World / Atmosphere (the vibe, the setting, the mood)
- Art Style (design of Samus, the enemies, the graphics in general)
- Story (what works, what doesn't)
- Pacing / Progression (are there any parts that really bog the player down, or is it still fun getting lost?)
- Gameplay / "Gimmick" (what new or different gameplay aspects we like)
- Items / Abilities (how are the powerups and are they cool and practical)
- Areas (how does each individual area look, feel, play, etc.)
- Enemies / Bosses (are they fun, creative, etc.)
- Expansions / Powerups (are the expansions hidden throughout the world fun, creative, and enjoyable to collect?)
- Music (are we humming along?)
Of course, all of these are subjective, and we're putting our critics hats on, but we want to hear what you have to say on Twitter!

Welcome to our last breakdown of the gameplay footage of Metroid Dread. This week, we take a listen to series producer Yoshio Sakamoto give an excellent Developmental History of Metroid Dread, offering context and info about the series to new players and old. We look over some new footage in the developer diary featuring Chozo Lore, the Morph Ball in action, and a new ability for Samus, the Spider Magnet. We then talk about the impact that both Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime 4 will have on Metroid fans and non-Metroid fans alike.
