After a brief hiatus, the boys are back in town, as Andy and Doom get together to talk the most topical thing going around the net: the Super Mario Bros Movie trailer! We give our reactions to the trailer, Chris Pratt’s Mario voice, the animation, and more, and then shift over to what everyone really wants to talk about: what could a possible Metroid movie look like? Andy and Doom both have pitches for stories, submit their casting choices for who should play these iconic characters, whether or not this movie should (or would likely be) animated or live action, whether the story should be an original tale or an adaptation of a game, and so much more!

Our recording schedules didn't quite line up this week, so instead of a new episode of the podcast, we're releasing a old episode that will be new to almost everyone! We've unlocked the previously Patreon exclusive series ROM Hack Reviews to go over the Super Metroid hack Super Duper Metroid! Super Duper Metroid, an incredible ROM Hack from Metaquarius and Daltone that reimagines Super Metroid with an emphasis on exploration and skill. Mapping Metroid returns, offering up a companion episode to our Tallon Overworld deep dive. This time, we're mapping two areas in one: the Frigate Orpheon! Come listen to us dissect the ship as it flies in space, talking about that Parasite Queen fight, the lore of the ship and what the Space Pirates are using it for, and how it serves as a perfect tutorial for players controlling Samus in 3D for the first time. In the hot seat this week is our friend Kiwi Talkz, as he joins Andy to answer a bunch of questions, including: will Metroid Prime 4 debut on the next Nintendo console? Was Retro Studios working on a third Donkey Kong game before taking over development for Prime 4? Will Raven Beak be a playable character in the next Smash Bros. game? Do we think Other M will ever get a remaster or HD port? Should Metroid II have released on the NES? Will the Speed Boost and Shinespark return in Prime 4? Summer's almost over Metroid fans, but not to worry because we've got just the remedy - a good ol' fashioned ranking episode! This week, Andy and Doom are judging every Metroid titles final area and ranking them from best to worst! What even constitutes a final area? What criteria do we use to grade them? Are we keeping the final boss fights separate from the area itself? Can music and atmosphere make up for smaller areas? Do escape sequences factor into our decisions at all? All this and more answered!

Welcome back to the SECOND edition of our newest podcast sub-series, Alien in Review, where Andy and his Virtual Theater co-host Gooey Fame go through and watch every movie in the Alien franchise, the series that inspired Metroid! Welcome to another week of the Omega Metroid Podcast! This week, Andy and Doom and joined by Omega Social Media Manager Jules Gia to discuss the upcoming Summer of Metroid Madness tournament! What the heck is that? Glad you asked! Summer of Metroid Madness is a tournament Omega Metroid us running starting TOMORROW August 16th that will pit 32 Metroid characters going up against each other in a series of NCAA-style 1v1 matchups. We go through the entire bracket, pick our favorites, and select a winner of the whole shebang!
