Welcome to a brand new sub-series from Omega! Today's episode is the first instalkment of Metroid Manga In Review, a series where we will be reading and reviewing the various Metroid manga that have been made over the years. Kicking us off is Metroid: Volume 1, the origin story of one Samus Aran!
Come listen to our thoughts on the manga's interpretation of the last days of the Chozo, the Space Pirates and what it's like to hear Ridley talk, the themes of emotion vs duty, Mother Brain as a Chozo-created AI program, Samus's companions Kreatz, Mauk, and Pychoni, if we had an easy time following along, and so much more!

After a brief detour, it's finally time to rewrite the story of Metroid Dread!
This week on the show, the OMP crew return to the drawing board for Metroid Dread and its story. While they are big fans of the game, Dak and Doom have had some opinions on how the game's story unfolds. So on this episode, they've both taken on the task of REWRITING the game's story! Dak and Doom will both go through their new Metroid Dread story pitches, presenting two wildly different ideas. How do they stack up to one another? And what do you think about these rewrites? After a long layover, Inspired By Metroid returns to examine the critically acclaimed Dead Cells, a game by Motion Twin. Dead Cells is a mashup, mixing classic Roguelike gameplay with Metroidvania exploration and platforming, so it feels familiar yet different! Joining Andy this week is Zach Guillot of the Collateral Gaming Video Game Podcast, as they discuss their thoughts on Roguelikes in general, what Metroid fans would like about this game, the different levels and areas, if the two genres of games mix well, the incredible depth of weapons and customization, and if the lack of story is made up for by the killer gameplay.

We are back once again to thorough analyze a Metroid area in our ongoing Mapping Metroid series, and this week, we return to Metroid Dread to talk the fallen Chozo city of Ferenia! We talk about our favorite rooms in the area, what sets Ferenia apart from other Dread locales, if the story told in that cutscene was effective or a stinker, argue about the music found within, discuss Escue and the Core-X, and describe some of our favorite Shinespark puzzles found within!

Heeeee's baaaack! This week, Andy returns and joins the fellas as they embark on a marathon topic: picking a favorite song from each game in the Metroid series (plus AM2R and Smash Bros. for good measure!). We have a lot of fun discussing our favorite tracks, trying to describe why we like them, which soundtracks we think are the best and which ones leave something to be desired, and realizing that, of all games, Metroid Prime Federation Force has *by far* the biggest OST in the entire series!

With rumors of a Metroid Prime 2 remaster back in the mix, the squad decided to discuss the rumors and their thoughts now that the first Metroid Prime Remastered has been released. Plus, we do a retrospective on the original Metroid Prime 2 - our favorite memories of the game, how it stacks up to the original Prime, and the game's legacy looking back at it almost twenty years later. And we jump into a few changes we'd like to see made, or not made at all, for the Remastered version if it comes out.

Strap in for a juicy episode! While there was no Metroid news shown at the recent Direct, a lot of stuff that could affect the future of Metroid on the Switch and beyond was announced! Does Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon being ported from 3DS set a precedent that Samus Returns could potentially follow? How about Pikmin 1 and 2 being released as digital games Could we see Metroid Prime Echoes and Corruption follow a similar path? More importantly, based on what we didn't see, does this put the final nail in the coffin of Metroid Prime 4 being, at the very least, a Switch-exclusive title, as all signs point toward it launching on Nintendo's next console?
