It's a new era for the Alien franchise, as the first entry in the series that helped shape Metroid without Sigorney Weaver enters full-on spinoff territory, colliding with the world of Predator to deliver the ultimate showdown in Alien vs. Predator! Andy and Gooey Fame are back to dish out their thoughts on the Paul W. S. Anderson directed film. While this film probably has the least in common with Metroid than almost any other entry in the series, we still analyze what makes a good spinoff film and game, while drawing some slight parallels to Metroid Prime Hunters. We're also talking about our thoughts on the Predator franchise, the coolest kills in the movie, the crazy lore and story of the movie, how Weyland Yutani isn't actually mega evil in AVP, the state of both the Alien and the Predator franchises heading into this crossover, how the movie not having one main character to rally around makes it tough, and so much more! All this, plus some quick thoughts on the upcoming Alien Romulus!

Now that we've had a few years to chew on Metroid Dread, the gang gets together to discuss Metroid 6, and more specifically things we DON'T want to see Metroid 6 do. Topics on the talking block that we don't want Metroid 6 to do include: abandon the Metroid Suit and its abilities; bring back the Pulse Scan in its current version, particularly when it could be replaced by a new-and-improved X-Ray Scope; limit exploration and guide you too directly where to go; feature the Power Bomb as the final powerup acquired; have lore information, like that found in the Dread Reports, not be available in the game again; and so much more!

Everyone's favorite game-show Samus's Percentages returns this week! The premise is simple: we read a hypothetical statement and then assign it a percentage based on how likely to be true we think it's be! On the docket this week: will the next Mercury Steam game have a great soundtrack? How much would a Metroid movie make at the box office? Will Federation Force ever see a port? Will Samus show up in Mario Kart 9? Will Nintendo sell Metroid Prime 4 at a premium price? Could Retro Studios ever revive Raven Blade? Are we seeing another Metroid spinoff game in the next five years?

Definitive Ranking returns! This time around, we're analyzing what's often called the "weak link" of the Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. We spend a lot of time debunking that weak link theory, talking about Corruption's story as the best in the series, debate how Hypermode could have been better, complain about the lack of challenging expansions, gush about using Samus's Gunship, ask if Prime 3 has that one killer song, and so much more! As an added bonus, here are Doom's notes!
Come play along, and as always, here’s the criteria for the Definitive Rankings:
- World / Atmosphere (the vibe, the setting, the mood)
- Art Style (design of Samus, the enemies, the graphics in general)
- Story (what works, what doesn’t)
- Pacing / Progression (are there any parts that really bog the player down, or is it still fun getting lost?)
- Gameplay / “Gimmick” (what new or different gameplay aspects we like)
- Items / Abilities (how are the powerups and are they cool and practical)
- Areas (how does each individual area look, feel, play, etc.)
- Enemies / Bosses (are they fun, creative, etc.)
- Expansions / Powerups (are the expansions hidden throughout the world fun, creative, and enjoyable to collect?)
- Music (are we humming along?)
Of course, all of these are subjective, and we’re putting our critics hats on, but we want to hear what you have to say on Twitter!

To kick things off, we look at the most feared faction in the galaxy: The Space Pirates! The gang are back once again to talk about Metroid Prime 4, but this time, to focus on what exactly the game needs in order to be a massive success. Obviously, things like good marketing and quality are a given, but what about beyond that? Does Metroid Prime 4 need to be a launch title for the Switch 2? Should it utilize the maximum power of the Switch 2, even if it means sacrificing a Switch port? Would calling it Prime 4 turn off players who haven't played the original Trilogy? Is a killer soundtrack an absolute requirement? What does 4 need to do to break free and evolve from previous Metroid Prime titles?

Our annual September Direct came and went, and while there was some quality stuff shown, it will likely be remembered as fairly underwhelming. The gang get together to discuss the not-unexpected-but-still-disappointing absence of Metroid Prime's Echoes and Corruption and what the calibre of games shown could mean for the Switch 2's reveal. We also get into the Direct itself and talk about the numerous Mario titles and why there are so many, the best way to make a new F-Zero game and what it should be about, Mario Kart's lacklustre Booster Pass and what we would do instead, the greatness of The Thousand Year Door, and so much more!

Rumors have been flying around lately about the successor to the Nintendo Switch, with Nintendo apparently showing off the "Switch 2" at Gamescom this year, so this week, Andy and Doom break down the technical specs that the Switch 2 is rumored to have, spitball their theories on when Nintendo will reveal their console (spoiler: Andy thinks it's sooner than you think!), when Metroid Prime 4 will launch on the new system and whether we even get a Switch version still, if there's a chance Metroid Prime 2 and 3 launch on the Switch before the new console, and so much more!
All this, PLUS some predictions for what we might see in the September Direct, we revisit older Nintendo consoles last year release schedules, and debate if the time for Mother 3 to hit NA is finally upon us. Come hang with us!

We're back to finish off the journey we started last week with Volume 1 of the Metroid Manga! Volume 2 picks up right where the last one left off and makes some...interesting decisions. Hear our thoughts on things like Adam's characterization towards Samus, if that ending was enough to undo the whole story thus far, Samus suffering from PTSD (and how that same scene later resurfaced in Other M), the fights against Ridley and the rest of the Space Pirates, how much DNA funny business is too much, and Grey Voice the Chozo's character arc!
