WHOA! Well, in the span of 24 hours, we had a surprise Nintendo Direct announcement that promised to showcase Switch 1 titles, so of course, we all buckled up for the latest Metroid Prime 4 news, and the Direct delivered! While the overall quality of the Direct itself was debatable at best, the trailer shown for Beyond was awesome, introducing us to the new planet Viewros, new Psychic Abilities for Samus, new alien friends and foes, and a drop-dead gorgeous new suit for the Bounty Hunter. We go over and analyze, speculate, and theorize over the trailer, and as a special treat, we're joined by Dak for the first time in a while!

It's almost here! We are one week away from the Switch 2 Direct, and we are full of thoughts, hopes, and predictions! Andy and Doom are out and talking about what they want to see and what they expect to see next week on April 2nd! Inspired By Metroid returns this week, as Andy and Zach get together to talk about a game somewhat light on Metroid references, but one with a deep connection to our community! Acclaimed developer of AM2R Milton Guasti joined Squid Shock Studios to make the wonderful Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, a Metroidvania that could best be described as Ōkami meets Hollow Knight, and this week, the guys get together and talk about what they like, areas they thought could be improved, the plethora of side quests and collectables, and so much more! If you're a fan of Metroidvania's, you'll want to check this one out!

fter a long layoff, Definitive Ranking returns, and this time we have our work cut out for us! We are tasked with ranking the most un-Metroid Metroid game there is, 2016's multiplayer spinoff Federation Force! We give the game it's due while talking about the deep customization options and solid gameplay and level design, while also unfortunately taking it to task for it's shortcomings in the music, story, and art style department. We're fair but forgiving, so come listen and see what you agree with!
Come play along, and as always, here’s the criteria for the Definitive Rankings:
- World / Atmosphere (the vibe, the setting, the mood)
- Art Style (design of Samus, the enemies, the graphics in general)
- Story (what works, what doesn’t)
- Pacing / Progression (are there any parts that really bog the player down, or is it still fun getting lost?)
- Gameplay / “Gimmick” (what new or different gameplay aspects we like)
- Items / Abilities (how are the powerups and are they cool and practical)
- Areas (how does each individual area look, feel, play, etc.)
- Enemies / Bosses (are they fun, creative, etc.)
- Expansions / Powerups (are the expansions hidden throughout the world fun, creative, and enjoyable to collect?)
- Music (are we humming along?)
Of course, all of these are subjective, and we’re putting our critics hats on, but we want to hear what you have to say on Bluesky!

The gang are finally back for a new episode after the Omega Metroid Marathon (and a few technical difficulties recording yesterday!) and we don't waste any time jumping right back into the thick of things! Mapping Metroid returns to tackle a two in one special area from Metroid Prime 3: The G.F.S. Olympus and planet Norion! We talk the rooms, the expansions, the story and characters, the bombastic opening sequence, which is half Halo, half James Bond, and of course the incredible falling shaft battle with Meta Ridley!

The Omega Metroid Marathon is officially over, and after a fantastic but exhausting week, we're taking the week to recharge. Fear not though - this week will be a special treat, as in audio form is Andy's interview with AM2R creator Milton "DoctorM64" Guasti! Milton offers his thoughts, perspective, and memories making AM2R as we play through, so imagine this as a Directors Commentary cut, like the DVD days of old! In case you've been living under a rock, Nintendo released a, what has to be described as lackadaisical, video revealing the successor the the Switch: the aptly named Nintendo Switch 2! We go over the info we have, discuss the mouse-Joycons, talk about some of the QOL improvements, discuss the magnetic Joycon connectors, give our thoughts on Mario Kart 9, and our overall thoughts on the lack of pizzazz given to the reveal. PLUS we talk about how Metroid Prime 4 could factor into the Switch 2's launch!
